Honduran Mango & Avocado Salsa

What's the big idea?

Salsas are served as accompaniements to many meals in Honduras, and this fresh zingy recipe is a great example!

Shopping List

Here's the list of what you need:

  • 1 ripe mango, peeled and diced
  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled and chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, diced into very small pieces
  • ¼ red onion, diced into very small pieces
  • 1 red pepper, diced into very small pieces
  • A good splash of lime juice
  • A dash of Tabasco Sauce (optional)
  • A few Pickled Jalapenos (optional)

What To Do

  • Prepare the mango, avocados, tomato, red onion and red pepper as described above
  • Mix together in a bowl, adding the lime juice, Tabasco Sauce and Jalapenos (if using) to taste - add a little at a time until you are happy with the flavour
  • Cover with cling film and leave in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes (minimum)
  • Serve as an accompaniement to virtually any Honduran dish, or with your favourite crisps (chips)
